Legal

Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Lovetick, written in plain English where we can and in precise legal language where we must. Last updated 20 March 2026.

See also our privacy policy for how we handle your data.

1. Acceptance of terms

What this means

By using Lovetick, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. We will always tell you before we make meaningful changes.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you and EKO8 Ltd, trading as Lovetick ("Lovetick," "we," "us," or "our"). They govern your access to and use of the Lovetick mobile application, the website at lovetick.com, and all related services.

By creating an account or using any part of the service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make changes that materially affect your rights or obligations, we will notify you at least 30 days in advance through the app or by email. Your continued use of Lovetick after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you may close your account before they take effect.

2. Eligibility

What this means

You must be 18 or older to use Lovetick. We verify this. If you are subscribing, UK law gives you a 14-day cooling-off period on digital subscriptions, and we honour that.

To use Lovetick, you must:

Be at least 18 years of age. We enforce this through date-of-birth verification during registration and identity verification for all users.

Be legally capable of entering into a binding agreement under the laws of your jurisdiction.

Not have been previously banned from Lovetick for violating these Terms or our community standards.

Not be required to register as a sex offender in any jurisdiction.

If we discover that a user does not meet these eligibility requirements, we will immediately suspend the account and delete all associated data.

UK consumer protection: If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom, you have statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (the "UK DMCCA rules"). These Terms do not affect those rights. Where applicable, we comply with requirements for pre-contract information, cancellation rights, and refund obligations for digital content and subscription services. See Section 8 for details on subscriptions.

3. Account registration

What this means

You create an account with your phone number. We verify it is real. You agree to provide accurate information and keep your account secure.

Phone verification: You register by providing a valid mobile phone number. We send a one-time SMS verification code to confirm you have access to that number. This is our primary identity check during registration.

Identity verification: All users are required to complete identity verification, which includes a selfie check against your profile photo. This protects you and every other person on Lovetick.

Accuracy: You agree that all information you provide during registration and throughout your use of Lovetick is truthful, accurate, and current. Specifically:

Your date of birth must be your real date of birth.

Your name must be a name you genuinely go by.

Your photos must be of you, taken within the last two years, and not materially altered beyond standard filters.

Your city must be a place where you currently live or are genuinely willing to meet people.

Account security: You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Do not share your login credentials or verification codes with anyone. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@lovetick.com.

One account per person: You may only create and maintain one Lovetick account. Creating multiple accounts is a violation of these Terms and will result in all accounts being terminated.

4. The service

What this means

Lovetick matches you with one person at a time based on predicted conversational chemistry. You talk. If it works, it works. We provide AI portraits, connection notes, conversation tools, and safety features. We do not guarantee you will find a partner.

4.1 What Lovetick provides

Lovetick is a dating service that offers:

AI-powered matching based on predicted conversational chemistry. Our AI analyses your personality portrait, built from your onboarding conversation, and finds people you are likely to enjoy talking to.

One match at a time per conversation slot. Free users have 3 slots, paid users have up to 5. This is intentional. Constraint is how Lovetick works.

Text-based conversations that progress through zones, from lighter topics to deeper ones, at a natural pace.

AI-generated personality portraits that capture your communication style, values, and what makes you interesting to talk to.

Connection notes that explain why the AI thinks you and your match will click.

Voice calls and photo sharing (available after both users signal they want to keep going).

Safety features including automated content moderation, reporting, blocking, and undertow protection.

Conversation insights, voice intros, reflection journals, and other premium features depending on your subscription tier.

4.2 What Lovetick does not guarantee

We work hard to find you good matches. But we are honest about what we can and cannot promise:

We do not guarantee that you will find a romantic partner, a date, or any specific outcome.

We do not guarantee that any particular match will be compatible with you in practice, even if the AI predicts strong chemistry.

We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted access to the service. We aim for high availability but outages and maintenance happen.

We do not guarantee a specific number of matches within any timeframe. Matching depends on who else is active in your area, your preferences, and the AI's assessment of chemistry.

4.3 Service changes

We are continuously improving Lovetick. We may add, modify, or remove features over time. If we make changes that significantly reduce the value of a paid subscription tier, we will offer affected subscribers a pro-rata refund or the option to cancel without penalty.

5. User conduct

What this means

Be a decent person. Do not harass anyone, do not lie about who you are, do not try to scam people, and do not use Lovetick for anything other than genuine dating. We enforce this.

5.1 Prohibited behaviour

You agree not to:

Harass, bully, intimidate, stalk, or threaten any other user.

Send sexually explicit messages or images unless the other person has clearly and enthusiastically indicated they are welcome.

Impersonate another person, use someone else's photos, or misrepresent your identity.

Use Lovetick for any commercial purpose, including promoting products, services, or other platforms.

Solicit money or financial information from other users.

Attempt to defraud, catfish, or scam other users.

Share another user's private information, photos, or conversation content outside the app without their explicit consent.

Use automated tools, bots, scripts, or scrapers to access or interact with Lovetick.

Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Lovetick application.

Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable load on Lovetick's infrastructure.

Violate any applicable law or regulation while using the service.

Use Lovetick if you are under 18.

5.2 Content standards

All content you share on Lovetick, including messages, photos, and profile information, must comply with these standards:

No content that promotes violence, hatred, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

No content depicting or promoting illegal activity.

No content that infringes on any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.

No spam, chain messages, or unsolicited advertising.

Profile photos must show your face clearly and must not contain nudity, graphic violence, or content designed to shock or offend.

5.3 Enforcement

We use automated content moderation and human review to enforce these standards. Violations may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent termination of your account, depending on severity. In cases involving illegal activity, we will cooperate with law enforcement. See Section 9 for more on safety and reporting.

6. Content ownership

What this means

You own what you create. Your photos, your messages, your words. You give us permission to display them within the app so the service works. We do not sell your content or use it for advertising.

6.1 Your content

You retain all ownership rights to content you create and share on Lovetick, including your profile photos, messages, voice notes, and any other material you upload ("Your Content").

By using Lovetick, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, display, reproduce, and distribute Your Content solely for the purposes of operating and providing the service. This means:

We display your profile and photos to the people you are matched with.

We transmit your messages to the person you are talking to.

We may process your content through our safety and moderation systems.

We may use anonymised, aggregated data derived from user content to improve our matching systems. This data cannot be traced back to you.

This licence ends when you delete your content or close your account, subject to our data retention periods described in the Privacy Policy.

6.2 What we do not do with your content

We do not sell your content to third parties.

We do not use your photos or messages in advertising or marketing materials without your explicit, separate consent.

We do not share your conversations with other users beyond the person you are matched with.

We do not use your content to train AI models. See Section 7 for details on AI-generated content.

7. AI-generated content

What this means

Lovetick uses AI to create your personality portrait, write connection notes, generate conversation insights, and moderate content. You should know who owns what and how it works.

7.1 Types of AI-generated content

Lovetick generates several types of AI content:

Personality portraits: A multi-dimensional profile of your communication style, values, and personality, generated from your onboarding conversation and ongoing daily questions.

Connection notes: Short explanations of why the AI thinks you and a specific match will enjoy talking. Visible to both users in a match.

Conversation insights (Deep and Drift tiers): Private observations about the dynamic of an active conversation. Visible only to the subscriber.

Reflection journals (Drift tier): Synthesised observations about your patterns across multiple conversations. Private to you.

Conversation prompts and shared questions: AI-generated topics to help conversations move forward.

Content moderation decisions: Automated assessments of whether messages comply with our community standards.

7.2 Ownership and accuracy

Your portrait: Your personality portrait is derived from what you told us and belongs to you. You can view it, request changes, or request its deletion at any time. When you delete your account, your portrait is deleted.

Connection notes: Connection notes are generated by Lovetick and are jointly associated with both users in a match. Neither user individually owns a connection note.

Insights and journals: Conversation insights and reflection journals are generated for you personally and are deleted when you close your account.

Accuracy: AI-generated content is produced by large language models and may not always be perfectly accurate. Your personality portrait is our AI's best interpretation of how you communicate, not a clinical assessment. Connection notes are predictions, not guarantees. If you believe any AI-generated content about you is inaccurate, you can request a review or correction by contacting support@lovetick.com.

7.3 AI provider and data handling

We use Anthropic's Claude API to power our AI features. Anthropic does not train its models on data submitted through the API. Your conversations and personality data are never used to improve Anthropic's or any third party's AI models. Full details are in our Privacy Policy, Section 4.

8. Subscriptions and payments

What this means

Lovetick has a free tier and two paid tiers. Payments go through Stripe. You can cancel at any time and keep your subscription until the end of the billing period. UK consumers get a 14-day cooling-off period on new subscriptions.

8.1 Subscription tiers

Lovetick offers the following tiers:

Lovetick (free): 3 conversation slots, full AI matching, full safety features, and the complete core experience.

Lovetick Deep (GBP 9.99/month or GBP 79.99/year): 5 conversation slots, priority slot filling, conversation insights, voice intros, and extended conversation history.

Lovetick Drift (GBP 14.99/month or GBP 119.99/year): Everything in Deep, plus instant slot refills, reflection journal, monthly matching report, one rewind per month, and priority support.

We may adjust pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Any price change applies only at your next renewal. You can cancel before the new price takes effect.

8.2 Billing and payment processing

All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We never see, store, or have access to your full card number, CVV, or billing address. Stripe handles all payment data under their own privacy policy and PCI DSS compliance.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually) unless you cancel before the renewal date.

8.3 Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time through the app (Settings > Subscription > Cancel) or by contacting support@lovetick.com.

When you cancel:

Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period you already paid for.

You are not charged again after cancellation.

There are no cancellation fees.

When your subscription period ends, your account reverts to the free tier. Your conversations, matches, and portrait are preserved.

8.4 Cooling-off period (UK consumers)

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, UK consumers have a 14-day right to cancel a subscription from the date of purchase, for any reason, and receive a full refund.

If you begin using the paid features during the 14-day cooling-off period, you acknowledge that you are requesting immediate access to the digital content and that your right to cancel is maintained. If you exercise your right to cancel within 14 days, we will provide a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the subscription period.

To exercise your cooling-off right, contact us at support@lovetick.com or use the cancellation option in the app within 14 days of your purchase.

8.5 Refunds

Outside the 14-day cooling-off period, refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis. We will consider refunds where the service was materially unavailable, where a billing error occurred, or where other circumstances make a refund fair and reasonable. Contact support@lovetick.com with your request.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a UK consumer. If the service is not as described, not fit for purpose, or not of satisfactory quality, you have legal rights to a remedy under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

9. Safety and reporting

What this means

Your safety matters more than anything else we do. We have automated and human moderation. If someone makes you feel unsafe, report them. We act quickly, and we cooperate with law enforcement when lives may be at risk.

9.1 Our safety commitments

Automated content moderation scans all messages for harassment, threats, explicit content, scams, and other policy violations.

Human moderators review flagged content and make enforcement decisions.

Identity verification for all users reduces catfishing and impersonation.

Undertow protection detects unhealthy conversation patterns and intervenes with support resources.

In cases of immediate danger or criminal activity, we will cooperate with law enforcement, including disclosing relevant user data where legally required or where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to prevent harm.

9.2 Reporting

If another user behaves in a way that violates these Terms or makes you feel unsafe, please report them immediately using the in-app reporting feature (available on every conversation screen) or by emailing safety@lovetick.com.

When you report someone:

The reported user is not notified of who made the report.

We review all reports promptly. Reports involving threats or safety risks are prioritised.

You can block the reported user immediately. Blocking removes them from your matches and prevents future matching.

We retain reports and moderation records for 3 years to enable pattern detection and support any legal proceedings.

9.3 Your safety obligations

While we work to make Lovetick as safe as possible, we cannot verify the intentions or character of every user. If you choose to meet someone in person, please take sensible precautions: meet in a public place, tell a friend where you are going, and trust your instincts. Our Safety page has more guidance.

10. Privacy

What this means

Our Privacy Policy explains everything about how we handle your data. These Terms and the Privacy Policy work together.

Your privacy is fundamental to how we built Lovetick. Our Privacy Policy describes in detail what data we collect, why, how we use AI to process it, who we share it with, your rights under UK GDPR, and how to exercise those rights.

The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By agreeing to these Terms, you also acknowledge that you have read and understood the Privacy Policy.

Key points:

We do not sell your data.

We do not use advertising SDKs or tracking pixels.

Your data is never used to train AI models.

You can request deletion of all your data at any time.

We comply with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

11. Intellectual property

What this means

Lovetick the brand, the app, the design, and the code are ours. You can use the app, obviously. You cannot copy or redistribute it.

The Lovetick name, logo, visual design, source code, matching systems, AI systems, user interface, and all associated intellectual property are owned by EKO8 Ltd or licensed to us. This includes but is not limited to:

The Lovetick trademark and brand identity.

The design and layout of the app and website.

The matching engine and AI processing systems.

All original text, graphics, and media created by Lovetick.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Lovetick application for its intended purpose: personal, non-commercial dating. This licence does not include the right to:

Copy, modify, or distribute any part of the application.

Use the Lovetick brand, logo, or design assets without prior written permission.

Reverse-engineer, decompile, or derive the source code of the application.

Create derivative works based on the application or its features.

12. Limitation of liability

What this means

We stand behind the service we provide, but we cannot control the behaviour of other users or guarantee specific outcomes. UK consumer law protects you, and nothing in these Terms takes those protections away.

12.1 Our liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lovetick's total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to these Terms or your use of the service is limited to the greater of:

The amount you have paid to Lovetick in the 12 months preceding the claim, or

GBP 100.

12.2 Exclusions

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of Lovetick.

We are not liable for:

The conduct, actions, or statements of other users, whether online or offline.

Any harm that results from meeting someone you connected with through Lovetick.

Service interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Inaccuracies in AI-generated content, including personality portraits and connection notes.

12.3 Statutory rights preserved

Important: Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by English law. If you are a UK consumer, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected by these Terms.

13. Termination

What this means

You can delete your account whenever you want. We can close your account if you violate these Terms. When your account is deleted, your data is erased in line with our Privacy Policy.

13.1 Termination by you

You can close your account at any time through the app (Settings > Delete Account) or by emailing support@lovetick.com.

When you close your account:

Your profile is immediately hidden from other users.

Your data enters a 30-day recovery window, during which you can reactivate your account and recover your data.

After 30 days, deletion is permanent and irreversible. All personal data is erased from our systems, and we instruct our processors to do the same.

If you have an active subscription, it will not renew. No refund is issued for the remaining portion of the current billing period, unless you are within the 14-day cooling-off period.

13.2 Termination by us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially violate these Terms, including but not limited to:

Repeated or severe violations of the user conduct standards in Section 5.

Creating multiple accounts.

Using Lovetick for illegal purposes.

Behaviour that poses a safety risk to other users.

Where possible, we will notify you of the reason for suspension or termination. In cases involving immediate safety risks, we may act without prior notice. You may appeal a termination decision by contacting support@lovetick.com.

13.3 GDPR erasure

Whether you close your account or we terminate it, your right to erasure under Article 17 of UK GDPR is fully respected. Deletion covers all our systems and processors. The only exceptions are data we are legally obliged to retain (payment records for 7 years per UK tax law) and safety/moderation records (retained for 3 years for pattern detection and legal proceedings). Full retention details are in our Privacy Policy, Section 7.

14. Governing law

What this means

These Terms are governed by English law. If something goes wrong that we cannot resolve between us, the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms or your use of Lovetick shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer resident in the United Kingdom, you will benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you reside. Nothing in these Terms affects your rights as a consumer to rely on such mandatory provisions.

Dispute resolution: Before bringing any formal legal proceedings, we encourage you to contact us at legal@lovetick.com so we can try to resolve the issue directly. Most issues can be resolved quickly when both parties communicate in good faith.
