Most privacy pages are written by lawyers for lawyers. This one is written by us, for you. Here is exactly what happens with your data when you use Lovetick.

What we collect and why

Your onboarding conversation

The AI conversation builds your personality portrait. This is how we match you. It stays on our servers and is never shared with other users or third parties.

Your messages

Encrypted in transit and at rest. We use automated safety scanning to detect harassment and threats. This means messages are not end-to-end encrypted, because safety scanning requires server-side access. We chose user safety over encryption purity.

Your phone number and ID

Your phone number is used for account verification and waitlist updates. ID verification confirms you are a real person, then the ID document is deleted. We do not store copies of your government ID.

What your match sees vs. what stays private

Your match sees

Your first name. Your photos (after the initial text-first period). Your messages. The connection note explaining why you were paired.

Stays completely private

Your full personality portrait. Your onboarding conversation. Your phone number. Your date feedback. Your preferences and dealbreakers. Nothing from these is ever visible to another user.

What we never do

Sell your data. Send it to third parties. Use it to train external AI models. Retain it longer than necessary. Show it to anyone who hasn't earned access through real conversation.

Zero third-party SDKs

When you use Tinder, 51 different companies get a piece of your data. When you use Bumble, your messages may be processed by third-party AI providers. When you use Lovetick, zero third parties see your data. We built the whole thing ourselves. Your conversations stay between you, your match, and our servers. That's it.

No cookie consent popup. We use PostHog (EU-hosted) for analytics, configured without cookies. Nothing to consent to.

Your data, your rules.

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

See your data. Request a copy of everything we hold about you.

Correct your data. If something is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.

Delete your data. Request full deletion. We will permanently remove your account, your portrait, your conversations, and all associated data.

Take your data. Request a portable copy you can take elsewhere.

Object to processing. If you disagree with how we use your data, tell us.

Complain. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@lovetick.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.

Deleting your account.

You can delete your account in the app at any time. Here is what happens:

    All your conversations are permanently deleted.

    Your personality portrait is permanently deleted.

    Your onboarding data is permanently deleted.

  4. 4

    Your phone number and email are removed from our systems.

  5. 5

    Any data shared with your matches (messages, photos) is removed from their view.

This process is irreversible and completes within 30 days. If you want to come back after deleting, you start fresh. No shadow profiles. No hidden retention.

If you can't access the app, email privacy@lovetick.com and we'll handle it manually.

The technical bits.

Messages: Encrypted in transit and at rest. We use automated safety scanning to detect harassment, threats, and policy violations and protect users. This means messages are not end-to-end encrypted in the strict sense, because our safety system needs to be able to review flagged content. We chose user safety over encryption purity. We think that's the right trade-off, and we'd rather be honest about it.

ID verification data: Verified and discarded. We confirm you're a real person, then we delete the ID document. We do not store copies of your government ID.

AI training: Your conversations are not used to train AI models sold to other companies. Your data trains Lovetick's matching for you. That's it. Our AI provider (Anthropic) operates under a data processing agreement that prohibits using your data for their own training.

Storage: All data encrypted at rest. Servers in the UK/EU. No data transfers to jurisdictions without adequate privacy protections.

We use a small number of services to run Lovetick. Here is who they are and what they do:

Supabase - Stores your data, encrypted, UK/EU servers

SMS

Twilio - Sends you text messages about your account

AI

Anthropic - Powers the onboarding conversation and matching engine, under a data processing agreement that prohibits using your data for their own training

Analytics

PostHog (EU-hosted) - Anonymised usage analytics, no personal data, EU-hosted
